THE MINISTRY OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROPOSED TO PROVIDE NEEDY RUSSIANS WITH FOOD
The Ministry of Economic Development has come up with proposals to introduce a number of measures in the face of rising inflation and rising food prices. In particular, the idea to introduce food aid to the low-income citizens to support them in a difficult situation was voiced.
Additionally, the development of a separate bill to support farmers was proposed.
According to Mikhail Mishustin, against the background of rising food prices around the world, it is necessary to develop a set of measures that would stabilize the cost of food for a long period of time.
By the beginning of November, a consolidated report with proposals to improve the current situation is expected from a number of ministries, including the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, reports Izvestia. At the moment, the proposals are at the stage of discussion - presumably some of them will be included in the final document submitted to the Government of the Russian Federation.
It is worth noting that the issue of provision the low-income citizens with food has previously been discussed at the state level. At the end of last year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed the introduction of a consumer certificate. According to it, people with low income could receive targeted financial assistance to purchase food. However, the proposal hasn’t resulted in the implementation of the initiative.
