THE LEVEL OF SCHOLARSHIP ALLOWANCES MAY BE INCREASED TO THE MINIMUM WAGE
It became known that the Ministry of Education and Science is considering the possibility of increasing the student scholarships to the minimum wage - at the moment the amount of allowance is 12 130 rubles.
To embody such an initiative, it is necessary to increase the amount of budgetary allocations from the federal budget. Despite the fact that the minimum wage in Russia is around 12,130 rubles, the average amount of the state scholarship, according to the latest data, is 2,980 rubles.
Previously, the deputies of "Fair Russia" have already come forward with an initiative to increase the scholarships payments to the subsistence level (depending on the region) and a corresponding draft law has been introduced to the State Duma.
The Commission approved the proposal, but noted that it should be substantially elaborated.
The experts also note that in accordance with the new Constitution, the population should be provided with the social guarantees - wages and pensions not lower than the subsistence level. For this reason, the students can also look forward to increase of the scholarships to this level, as they are the only income for many students.
