THE AUTHORITIES OF KALININGRAD REGION PLANNING TO INTRODUCE A RESORT TAX
The day before, it was decided to introduce a resort tax on the territory of Kaliningrad region. It is planned that the measure will start working next year. The funds received in this way will be used to improve the tourism infrastructure of the region.
The decision was made within the framework of the meeting of the Tourism Council held on the eve. The new measure is justified by an increase in the number of tourists and an increase in this connection with the load on the industry as a whole.
The tax will become another source of financing that will allow improvement of infrastructure of the resort towns.
The amount of tax will be 100 rubles per day, and it is planned to install it in Kaliningrad and on the Baltic coast.
The council members supported the idea, now the initiative is to be followed by a detailed study of both receiving and spending funds.
According to the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the region, a high level of services has been formed in the region in recent years, and its decline cannot be allowed. The introduction of a tourist tax is seen by the regional authorities as an opportunity to maintain a balance between a high level of service and an adequate cost of a tourist product.
