SALE OF BEER AT STADIUMS MAY BE LEGALISED IN RUSSIA
The Russian government is preparing a bill that will allow the sale of beer at sports stadiums. The innovation will affect not only football matches but also other sports, if adopted.
At the same time, the funds received from the sale of alcohol are planned to be spent on the development of sports, including sports for children and youth.
According to preliminary estimates, the norm will start to work as early as next year, if, after the formation of the new State Duma in September, the bill is adopted.
Among the main innovations, there are :
retail sale of beer and beer drinks is permitted at sports stadiums;
the proceeds from the sale of alcohol are used to finance the development of professional sports, including sports for children and youth;
the list of competitions at which the sale of beer and beer drinks is possible is approved by the Government of the Russian Federation in agreement with the all-Russian sports federations and leagues;
the ban on the sale of alcohol in any form has been retained for competitions of youth.
We should recall that the ban on the sale of beer at stadiums has been in effect in Russia for the sixteenth year. During this time, the heads of football clubs have repeatedly raised the issue, talking about serious financial losses due to the ban, but this did not lead to visible results.
