RUSSIA PLANS TO INTRODUCE A NEW NON-WORKING HOLIDAY
A corresponding bill has been submitted to the lower house of the legislative body, drafted pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 411 of 06/28/2022. The initiative to introduce a day off on July 8 looks quite logical in the context of the general focus on providing various legal guarantees in the family sphere.

Recall that on July 8, Russia celebrates the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity. The proposal to make this day a weekend is also logical because the family is the basis of society, which is recognized internationally. That is why national holidays dedicated to the family are recognized as days off in many states.

So, Family Day is a day off in Canada, South Africa, Angola, Vietnam.

It is assumed that families will spend this day with each other. Unlike some other family holidays, this day does not involve giving gifts – instead, the message of the event calls for focusing on family relationships.

In every conceivable way, family is a link to the past and a bridge to the future. Realizing the importance of the family and the recognition of its value, the legislator fixed the holiday at the level of the basic law – the Constitution of the Russian Federation.

Thus, in connection with the recognition of Family Day as a national holiday non-working day, citizens will be able to get a day off on July 8.
