REPRESENTATIVES OF CPRF PROPOSED TO RETURN TO NORMAL RETIREMENT AGE
The initiative was proposed due to a number of negative factors that can arise after the retirement age is increased. The bill has already been submitted to the Lower house of Parliament for consideration.

The draft law provides for a return to the pre-existing retirement age in Russia from January 1, 2022.

It is about 60 years for men and 55 for women.

The initiators of the changes were the leader of CPRF party Gennady Zyuganov and senator Vasily Ikonnikov. The explanatory note to the document says that the previously voiced argument about the need to change the retirement age in order to increase the number of employees is untenable. According to the parliamentarians, the Russian economy does not need more workers, and instead of increasing the retirement age, it would be better to improve the mechanism for replenishing the insurance part of the pension through taxation.

In addition, the parliamentarians named a number of negative aspects that could become a result of the previously introduced changes.

Among them, there are an increase in the number of citizens applying for disability, an increase in mortality due to workload, and even an increase in the number of suicides.

We should remind our readers that in the fall of 2018, Vladimir Putin signed a bill to improve the pension system. The document provided for a gradual increase in the retirement age to 60 years for women and up to 65 years for men.
