Polling days in Russia may become non-working
Anton Orlov, a political scientist and a head of the Institute for Research on Problems of Contemporary Politics, appealed to the Ministry of Labor of the Russian Federation with an initiative to introduce additional non-working days in the country for holding elections.  The idea arose after the introduction of three voting days, one of which, as a rule, is still a working day.

The author of the initiative recalled that three days for voting were introduced a year earlier, and the elections held this September showed that one of the days nevertheless remains working, reports RT.

The turnout is falling due to this, because it is more difficult for voters to find time and vote.

Orlov's idea is to establish the legislative possibility of declaring federal elections and referendums as days off while preserving the wages for citizens.

The author of the initiative believes that such a measure will become an incentive for participation in the political life of the country and will help to increase the turnout at polling stations, as well as create more comfortable conditions for citizens.

Earlier, Orlov also spoke before the Federation Council with an initiative to admit the members of parties that did not qualify for the State Duma elections to the Public Chamber. Thus, in his opinion, politicians will continue their activities to discuss bills, leading an active social and political life.
