MANUFACTURERS ASK TO SOLVE THE ISSUE WITH INSTAGRAM* MARKING ON PACKAGES
The “Rusprodsoyuz” Association asked the Prosecutor General's Office to clarify the right to further use Meta* social network logos on products sold in the Russian Federation. The request stems from the organization's recent identification as an extremist organization and concerns about the possible need to abandon existing product packaging with the Instagram* and Facebook* logos.
The appeal sent to the Prosecutor General's Office says that “Rusprodsoyuz” has received a number of appeals from the representatives of retail chains. They are concerned about the presence of logos of official social media groups on product packaging, which are prohibited in Russia.
The association believes that in a situation of increased demand for a number of goods, as well as problems that have begun to arise with materials, the replacement of packages can lead to supply difficulties.
An additional complication is the increase in the cost of packaging. "Rusprodsoyuz" cites data, according to which the price of containers made of polymers and cardboard has increased to 95% against the backdrop of existing problems with the supply of foreign packages.
As for sticking logos on already formed goods, this method, according to the association, will lead to additional costs, which is “unacceptable” in the current situation.
* The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow recognized the activities of the Meta Corporation, as well as its Facebook and Instagram platforms, as “extremist” and banned them in the Russian Federation.
