Government agencies may be obliged to create profiles in social networks
The bill of deputy Alexander Khishtein was submitted to the State Duma.  It is assumed that government agencies should have pages in social networks and publish up-to-date data there.

The document appeared in the database of the lower house of parliament.  If it is approved, amendments will be made to Article 2 of the Federal Law ‘On Information’. In this case, government agencies, state organizations and local governments will be required to maintain pages in social networks.
Profiles in social networks should contain contact information: email, phone numbers, postal address.
It is also assumed that government agencies should notify about polls and events related to public opinion, publish information about speeches and statements.

The explanatory note to the bill says that the official website of a state organization is not enough - citizens use other means of communication, and social networks are the most popular of them.

It is planned to involve the Ministry of Digital Transformation in the project in order to develop a system for automatic management of social networks based on the State Services.  The author of the idea, Alexander Khishtein, believes that the bill will reduce the distance between the authorities and the people, helping the latter to communicate with government agencies in a more accessible way.
