Food ration cards may return to everyday life of Russians
Rising food prices may ultimately lead to the introduction of food ration cards for low-income Russians.  However, such a measure should not be considered a shame, says economist Ruslan Grinberg.  He recalled that the similar practice was widespread in different countries, including the United States.

According to Greenberg, in a situation of growing orices, the state will simply be forced to start solving this problem, RIA Novosti reports. In such a situation, two options are possible: subsidizing the production of a number of goods or issuing food ration cards to people, the economist concluded.

Greenberg notes that the use of food ration cards can be considered a shame in the minds of Russians, but it should not be so, as there is no such negative attitude towards them in other countries.

It is worth noting that there have already been talks about helping the needy people by means of food ration cards. Several years earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Trade came up with an initiative to create a whole food system for those who have low income. The initiative involved the distribution of special bank cards to which the funds for the purchase of specific products would be transferred.

Last year, large suppliers and manufacturers of products came up with the idea of   creating ration cards. They even sent a corresponding statement to the government of the country, which contained a request to support the Russians who lost their jobs due to the pandemic.
