The Ministry of Health, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, is actively working on a bill that will allow better monitoring of the health status of drivers and even deprive them of their rights upon confirmation of certain diagnoses.

Now drivers are required to undergo a medical commission every 10 years, which checks their health and ability to drive a vehicle, but this may soon change.

The necessity to make changes is explained by the fact that a lot can happen to human health in 10 years, but the traffic police will not know about it, and the driver will continue to drive on the roads.

At the moment, the presence of obvious contraindications to driving a vehicle, as a rule, is found out by chance - for example, with the participation of a driver in an accident, when a traffic police officer asks for medical data about him and learns about existing diseases.

The joint bill of the two departments is intended to rid society of the flaws in the legislation. The document contains a rule obliging the doctor of both private and public clinics to enter information about the patient's diseases, which are a contraindication to driving, into a special electronic database. After that, the person should be sent for an “extraordinary medical examination”. The list of diseases that impede driving a vehicle was previously approved by the Government of the Russian Federation.

We should note that the number of contraindications for driving included diseases such as depression, alcoholism, Alzheimer's disease, bipolar disorder, mood disorder, as well as phobias and many other anxiety disorders.

They will also restrict the availability of a driver's license for people suffering from many neuroses, OCD, personality disorders, gambling addiction, pyromania, kleptomania.

It is interesting that the list of citizens for whom driving is prohibited includes transvestites, transsexuals, exhibitionists, fetishists, sadomasochists and some other categories that are not directly related to the ability to drive vehicles.
