DEPUTIES WERE PROPOSED TO PROHIBIT THE SALE OF ALCOHOL DRINKS ON JANUARY 1 AND 2

The head of the Sober Russia organization and the representative of the Public Chamber, Sultan Khamzaev, came up with an initiative to prohibit the sale of alcohol in the Russian Federation on January 1 and 2. The idea is explained by concern for the health of citizens.

Khamzayev recalled that during the New Year holidays, a surge in alcohol poisoning is recorded and the ambulance has to work actively. Given that the medical system is already overwhelmed by the coronavirus this year, the initiative deserves attention to be paid.

The former chief sanitary doctor of the Russian Federation, Gennady Onishchenko, told RT that it was too late to consider such an idea. There is another reason why Onishchenko considers the initiative not entirely successful - Russians will buy alcohol in advance.

Onishchenko noted that the problem should be solved by constant work, for example, by showing fewer films with such content.

Every year, doctors remind Russians of the need to consume adequate amount of food and alcohol on New Year's holidays, since irrational consume might affect the body. On the New Year Eve, it is recommended, for example, to have a festive dinner no later than at nine p.m., so as not to overload the body at night.
