DEPUTIES INTEND TO BAN THE SALE OF ANIMALS IN PET SHOPS
The question is not only about the pet shops, but also about poultry markets. The fact is that the conditions in such places of sale leave much to be desired. In addition, animals do not have proper care and timely veterinary assistance.

According to TASS, the draft law was developed by the representative of United Russia and the head of the State Duma committee on ecology and environmental protection Vladimir Burmatov. At the moment, the document is waiting for a response of the government.

The innovation implies increased responsibility when handling animals - requirements for pet shops and poultry markets must be increased. A special executive body will establish new rules.

Vladimir Burmatov noted that in places of sale, animals are often treated inhumanely.

At the moment, Russia already has a law providing for liability for cruelty to animals, but the rules at the point of sale are not regulated in any way. The document notes that pet stores and markets often imply the same abuse, since the animals do not have normal nutrition and veterinary care there.

In February, another initiative of animal rights defenders was developed in the State Duma - the deputies proposed to ban the fishing of dolphins and other marine animals for dolphinariums. The authors of the idea noted that in many countries, dolphinariums are prohibited due to poor conditions.
