Film viewers may be banned from bringing their own food to cinemas.
The Ministry of Culture has prepared a draft government decree, which provides for the possibility of introducing a ban on spectators' consumption of their food and drinks during a movie showing. Previously, such a possibility has already been discussed, but the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing opposed it.
It is believed that the introduction of restrictions will cause negative reaction of viewers, and the alleged increase in revenue from the sale of food and drinks will not help cinemas.
Nevertheless, according to the draft resolution, cinemas are given the right to independently determine whether to introduce the proposed ban.
It will affect food and drinks both, as well as alcohol.
The representative of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation explained that the decision to give the cinemas the right to establish such a ban was made due to the difference in the positions of the latter, reports Kommersant.
According to experts, it is not yet clear how the innovation will be implemented. In order to check the bags of the viewers entering the cinema, it may be necessary to expand the staff of the cinema. It also remains a question of what to do with the viewers who end up with forbidden food. The procedure for withdrawing from the hall can end in a scandal and negative attitude towards cinemas.
It is worth saying that the introduction of the ban has been discussed for several years already, and the cinema chains themselves insist on it, counting on an increase in revenue from cinema bars.
