The professor of Rutgers University Sergei Erofeev stated that the scientific community nominated Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Erofeev noted that Navalny was nominated at the initiative of professors from numerous universities dealing with Russia. At the same time, he stressed that among the scientists who supported Navalny's candidacy, there were also those who previously spoke negatively about the politician's activities, but now they have changed their minds.

“Even those scientists who believe that the Nobel Peace Prize has been discredited are ready to give it a chance if Alexei receives it,” summarized Erofeev on his Facebook.

Earlier, the media reported that the US President Donald Trump and activists from Belarus Svetlana and Sergei Tikhanovsky could also be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

We should recall that at the moment, Alexei Navalny is still in a hospital in Germany. On September 7, he came out of a coma, and on September 15 he first contacted his followers on Instagram. On August 20, when flying from Tomsk to Moscow, Alexei felt ill, the plane was urgently landed in Omsk, sending the activist to a local hospital. Russian doctors reported that Navalny had a metabolic disorder, but after he had been transported to Germany, German doctors said that he was poisoned with a drug from the Novichok group.
