ALCOHOL FREE CHAMPAGNE FOR CHILDREN MIGHT BE PROHIBITED IN RUSSIA
ALCOHOL FREE CHAMPAGNE FOR CHILDREN MIGHT BE PROHIBITED IN RUSSIA
This initiative was made by the head of Sober Russia Ruslan Khamzaev. He believes that champagne for children makes them drink alcohol as adults.
The social activist noted that on the eve of the New Year, a sharp jump in the sales of alcoholic beverages is recorded in Russia; in a number of regions, this figure increases 12 times.
At the same time, the feast is often accompanied by the participation of children, for whom the children's champagne is purchased.
According to the public figure, the drink erodes the boundaries of what is permissible and programs children to consume alcohol in the future. To prevent such situations, Khamzaev turned to the Ministry of Industry and Trade with a proposal to prohibit both the production and sale of children's champagne on the eve of the New Year, reported RIA Novosti.
In addition, the letter contains a proposal for a public awareness campaign to curb alcohol advertising to children - both from parents and shops.
It is curious that a similar initiative had already been announced a year earlier. Then State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov made a similar proposal. The parliamentarian was supported by the Ministry of Health, whose chief psychiatrist-narcologist indicated that, in his opinion, the use of baby champagne is indeed capable of further pushing the child towards alcoholic products. The very presence of such a drink on the shelves is a kind of alcohol advertising.
