ALCOHOL ADDICTS MAY BE BANNED FROM HOLDING SENIOR POSITIONS
An unusual initiative was made by the Deputy Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Leningrad Region Vladimir Petrov. He stated that people with alcohol addiction should be banned from holding key positions.
Petrov intends to send his proposal to the Ministry of Labor and the Cabinet of Ministers. As a substantiation of the idea, Vladimir Petrov noted that the work of the entire team depends on the leader, and therefore a person who is unable to effectively carry out his duties and regularly suffers from a hangover should not hold such a position.
The official suggested introduction of a compulsory medical examination at least twice a year.
Petrov also recalled that it is necessary to pay attention to the behavior of employees not only when hiring, but also when performing duties. He spoke in favor of introducing appropriate amendments to the Labor Code.
If alcoholism is detected in the head of the company, Petrov proposed to prescribe compulsory treatment. If drunkenness becomes permanent, dismissal will follow.
It should be noted that in Russia, the peak of the incidence of alcoholism falls at the age of 30-50 years.
