A CLAUSE ON THE TAX FRAUD MIGHT BE ADDED TO THE CRIMINAL CODE OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

The law enforcement officials have developed a draft law on the“Tax Fraud”, which may be included in the Criminal Code. The draft law has been developed due to the need to improve the legislation.

The Deputy Chairman of the Investigative Committee, Colonel-General Elena Leonenko says that there is still a discussion on the project - it is too early to say anything in particular, reports RIA Novosti.

So far, there are four clauses of the Criminal Code that can be attributed to the tax crimes: 159, 198, 199, 199.2.

Clause 199 provides for up to 6 years in prison for legal entity tax evasion on an especially large scale. Clause 159, in turn, implies theft by deception and up to 10 years in prison. A representative of the Investigative Committee complained that in fact, the same actions can be attributed to both Clauses 159 and 199, despite the fact that there is a big differencebetween the punishment of 6 and 10 years , as they say in Odessa.

It is known that the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Federal Tax Service, the Prosecutor General's Office and the Investigative Committee took part in the development of the draft law.
