UNSPORTSMANLIKE SALARIES: HOCKEY CLUB FROM SYKTYVKAR TURNED OUT TO BE BANKRUPT
The Komi Arbitration Court issued a decision declaring the ANO HC "Builder" from Syktyvkar insolvent. The organization, which lost its main sponsor in the spring of 2022, has been preparing for liquidation since May. At the same time, the sports club has accumulated more than 19 million rubles of salary debt.

The hockey club appeared in the Komi capital in 2015. Its founder and president was Konstantin Agafonov.

At the same time, it almost immediately became impossible to receive financial allocations from the region, since a regulatory act adopted in the Russian Federation in 2016 prohibited the financing of ANO from the budget.

However, the club worked successfully, receiving money from sponsors. The main source of financing was Syktyvkar pulp and paper mill, known for the production of office paper "Snegurochka" ("Mondi SLPK").

In 2022, the sponsor stopped interacting with the club, as a result of which there was nothing to support the team and staff. And although the president of the club stated that he plans to keep the team and the club, its liquidation began in May.

On April 1, 2022, Konstantin Agafonov addressed the public through a social network. He said that the head coach of the organization Pavel Franz has left his post. All athletes have also officially stopped cooperating, since their contracts expired on March 31. In fact, only the chief accountant and the director remained in the service of the organization.

A few days later, the head of the region, Vladimir Uiba, addressed the fans via video. He said that the Komi authorities have a plan to create another organization, the founder of which will be the Republican Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports. It was decided to name the organization "Builder-Syktyvkar".

According to the head of Komi, the reason for the financial hole in which the hockey club found itself could be too high salaries of its employees.

In particular, the head coach Pavel Franz received a fee of 690 thousand monthly. The athletes' salaries also ranged from 100 to 340 thousand rubles. As a result, the club's budget in the previous sports season reached 100 million.

The authorities assume that in the new sports club the control over financial transactions will be more transparent. Uiba previously stated that the club will be able to receive no more than 44.5 million from the budget. The new team should be completed by October 2022. At the same time, the games will be held in the Highest League. In July, Nikolai Kishko, Honored Coach of the Russian Federation in powerlifting, was assigned to lead the organization. The former goalkeeper of the club Eduard Naidenkov will become the head coach.
