The sharp rise in gas prices triggered a wave of bankruptcies of energy suppliers in the UK. The day before, three more firms declared their insolvency - as a result, over 230 thousand customers were left without suppliers.
Last Wednesday, three UK energy companies - Igloo Energy Supply Ltd., Enstroga Ltd. and Symbio Energy Ltd. declared bankruptcy.
This was due to the sharp rise in natural gas prices, which the enterprises simply could not cope with.
Energy regulator Ofgem has already promised to find another energy provider for households that lost their suppliers, reports
Bloomberg.
Since the beginning of the wave of bankruptcies of energy companies in the UK, over 1.7 million customers have lost their suppliers. The situation began to develop actively at the beginning of August, and within two months, 10 natural gas suppliers have already collapsed.
The situation with bankruptcies of gas suppliers is increasingly approaching the need for government intervention.
The problems arose even before the beginning of winter - a period when gas prices start to increase due to the growing demand for heating. At the same time, now large suppliers receive more and more consumers - as a result, the load is growing and it can be very difficult to cope with it without government support.
