THE KURSK DEPUTY WAS DECLARED BANKRUPT
On April 16, the Kursk arbitration court declared 42-year-old entrepreneur Maxim Vasiliev insolvent (case no.A35-8231/2023). The initiator of the process at the end of August 2023 was the owner of the Billiard Club (LLC), Semyon Zaltsman. They were charged 2,913,220 rubles. At the same time, the defendant intended to report the plaintiff to the police, accusing Saltzman of fraud related to the purchase of an antique GAZ-21 car from him.
Maxim Vasiliev started doing business in 2000. In 2003, he was elected to the Kursk City Assembly, and then was elected to the Kursk Regional Duma, becoming deputy chairman of the Budget and Taxes Committee. In January 2023, he was at the center of a scandalous story related to the publication of his video greetings from Mexico, where he was on vacation with his wife (another member of the regional Duma).
In the New Year's greeting, Vasiliev was shown pouring beer and congratulating everyone on the New Year holidays with the wish of "a lot of money and a good mood." The regional head Roman Starovoit and Senator Andrei Turchak attacked Vasiliev with angry criticism.
The Governor pointed out the difficult situation associated with the cross-border nature of the region and the requirements for the behavior of representatives of government structures. The secretary of the General Council of United Russia called the video "the height of cynicism." Vasiliev eventually resigned as deputy chairman of the committee, and half a month later released a new video from the Special Military Operation zone, stating the regularity of his trips.
The bankruptcy process initiated by Saltzman gained momentum in 2024, despite Vasiliev's statement that he owed nothing. In February, collectors (PKO "Phoenix") filed a petition for entry into the case, demanding 131 thousand rubles. Soon, Sberbank announced a debt of 11 million rubles to the court. And at the end of the month, the tax authorities demanded the recovery of 145 thousand.
As a result, the arbitration recognized the existence of a debt of 14.2 million.
