THE BANKRUPTCY PROCEDURE HAS BECOME 40% MORE POPULAR AMONG RUSSIANS
The ability to write off debts, recognizing their own insolvency, is beginning to be in increasing demand among residents of Russia. In the first half of the year, 121,313 Russians (including sole proprietors) became bankrupt.

According to statistics published on the Fedresurs portal, the number of citizens who went bankrupt in 2022 increased by 37.8%. At the same time, some Russians (2,933 people) preferred to file bankruptcy out of court, using the services of the MFC. Such citizens turned out to be 32.2% more than in the same period of 2021.

The growing popularity of the institution of bankruptcy among citizens, experts believe, may indicate an increase in their awareness. After all, you can only apply through the MFC yourself. The overwhelming number of cases of bankruptcy recognition in court (95.2%) was also initiated by debtors.

Individuals have had the opportunity to officially become bankrupt in Russian law enforcement practice since October 2015.

According to statistics for the entire period up to June 30, 2022, more than 596.4 thousand citizens "successfully" went through bankruptcy for individuals. This allows us to talk about the demand for the possibility of legal release from debts and the viability of the legal institution, representatives of Fedresurs believe.

Experts attribute the increase in the number of bankruptcies through the MFC to the fact that citizens have become more responsible for the requirements that are established by law. The success rate of submitting such applications from the number of all submitted in 2022 increased to 58% (by 11% compared to 2021). In total, 6.2 thousand individuals became bankrupt.

Immediately after this opportunity appeared in September 2020, 80% of citizens were refused by the staff of the MFC.

Already in January 2021, the number of refusals decreased to almost 50%. According to data for May 2021, it does not exceed 40%.

The leaders in the number of bankrupt citizens among the regions in 2022 were Moscow (5.7 thousand people) and the Moscow region (6.1 thousand). Followed by Kuban (5.6 thousand), Bashkiria (5.1 thousand) and St. Petersburg (4.8 thousand).
