SWISS CHOCOLATE MANUFACTURER LINDT HAS STARTED LIQUIDATION IN RUSSIA
The Russian "daughter" of the Swiss Lindt & Spruengli Group, specializing in the production of premium chocolate products, has launched a liquidation process. This is evidenced by the entry in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.
The firm announced plans to leave the Russian market last year. In March 2022, it closed the doors of its outlets. At the same time, the manufacturer did not make loud statements and did not report on the reasons for his departure from the Russian Federation. Initially, the company continued to provide financial support to its employees. In August, information was made public about the complete termination of work.
In 2019, the Lindt company in Russia received a resonant warning from the FAS. Employees of the department found that the brand's products in Russia differed in quality characteristics from their foreign counterparts. Persil and Ariel then received the same warning along with Lindt. However, already in 2021, the agency published information that there was no evidence of such inconsistencies in Lindt chocolate.
In 2021, Lindt und Sprungli (Rush) (the official name of the organization in Russia) showed good financial results, increasing revenue to 3.1 billion, Vedomosti notes. The firm ended the year with a profit of 99.6 million, while before that it entered losses of 61 million. In the management of the organization, such a change in indicators was explained by the impact of the pandemic on the level of demand.
It is known that globally, the Russian market brought the company about 1% of total revenue. Last year, according to preliminary data, it grew by 10.8%, amounting to about 393.5 billion rubles (almost 5 billion Swiss francs). The company increased sales via the Internet, and customers began to order chocolate gifts for their friends and relatives more often.
Lindt & Sprüngli has been around for 175 years. The company is represented in the markets of 32 countries of the world. The company's products, manufactured by factories in the USA and Europe, are sold through a network of branded salons. The company owns 500 retail outlets worldwide. The organization sells part of its products through hundreds of its distributors.
