Small business in 2022: one in four enterprises may be liquidated
Small business in 2022: one in four enterprises may be liquidated
This year may become the last for a quarter of SMEs. The experts of Promsvyazbank came to such a conclusion. Together with Magram Market Research and Opora Rossii, they regularly monitor the business activity of Russians (make up the RSBI index). The situation is most tragic in the microbusiness segment - here 40% of survey participants reported reduced income.
1835 businessmen were polled. According to 19% of the participants, the deterioration of the economic situation, if it occurs, will lead to the liquidation of the business. This is 2% more than a year before. Another 7% predict liquidation even if the economic conditions will not change (up from 3% more respondents at the beginning of 2021).
As Izvestia notes, in 2019, the possibility of liquidation was confirmed by almost every third entrepreneur in the SME segment (32%).
In the current research, 74% of the respondents admitted the possibility of closing a business in almost any scenario for a change in the economic situation.
The research shows that the psychological and financial climate in small and medium-sized businesses improved slightly in 2021 compared to the previous year. 43% of all respondents reported that they received more significant revenue in 2021 than a year earlier. At the same time, there were 56% of them in medium-sized businesses, and 54% in small businesses.
The situation with microbusinesses is much worse.
Among the enterprises, where the number of employees does not exceed 15 people, and the annual revenue does not exceed 120 million rubles, only 29% of participants showed an increase in revenue, while 40% of organizations observed a drop in revenue. Moreover, the number of such micro-enterprises far exceeds the number of all others.
The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation believes that the research data from the segment of small and medium-sized businesses may indicate a gradual recovery of the market after the recession caused by the pandemic. The authorities attribute the results to the measures taken to counter the crisis and, in particular, credit support under payroll programs, for which more than 500 billion rubles were allocated. The department also refers to 1.02 million enterprises opened in 2021. This figure exceeds the data of 2020 by 20%.
