RUSSIANS WANT TO WRITE OFF 2 BILLION RUBLES OF DEBT BY BANKRUPTCY
The procedure for extrajudicial bankruptcy was launched in Russia over a year ago, and so far about 6 thousand citizens have been able to use it.  At the same time, the total amount of financial debts of Russians who do not have the ability to make payments on their obligations has already exceeded the 2 billion mark.

And although experts predict that the rules on extrajudicial bankruptcy will start working in full only after a couple of years, the available data make the authorities think about the prospects for economic development.

Ilya Torosov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development, shared the statistical data on the cancellation of debts of Russian citizens with Izvestia.
According to him, about 3.5 thousand persons have already gone through the bankruptcy procedure, thereby removing their obligations for 1.23 billion rubles.
What is more, many are awaiting the outcome of the process, but their cases have not yet expired the mandatory six-month period required to write off the debts.

The deputy minister also noted the steady growth in the number of extrajudicial bankruptcy procedures, which are carried out through the appeals to the MFCs. In November, the share of potential bankrupts, whose applications were recorded by the services of the MFCs, amounted to 54% of all citizens who used the services of such centers.

A similar trend is recorded by the employees of ‘Fedresurs’ website, noting an increase in the share of initiated extrajudicial bankruptcy procedures compared to November 2020.  Then their number was only 30% of the total number of applicants.  According to the head of ‘Fedresurs’ Alexei Yukhnin, this may be due to a decrease in the number of refusals on the part of government agencies.
At the same time, the average debt of bankrupt citizens for already completed procedures is just a little over 350 thousand rubles.

At the beginning of October, Rusbankrot already noted a rapid increase in the number of bankruptcies of individuals. The authorities then associated this with the growth of confidence in the procedure itself of both extrajudicial and judicial bankruptcy. The first nine months of 2021 resulted in an increase of 1.8 times. Then, 985 million rubles debts of Russians were written. Thus, in October-November, the debt burden was decreased by another 245 million rubles.
