Russian subsidiary of Google made a decision to file for bankruptcy
Google LLC posted a notice of the impending bankruptcy on the "Fedresurs" website.  Since March 22, 2022, the company representing the interests of an international IT corporation has not been able to fulfill the financial obligations previously imposed on it by the judicial authorities.  The company was the first in the Russian Federation to receive a turnover fine of 7.22 billion rubles.

The company had previously suspended a significant part of its operations in the country, but it became impossible to continue its business activities (pay wages, pay for partners' services).  In a statement, the head of Google in Russia, David Munro, said that the company could not conduct operations under the conditions of the arrest imposed on the bank accounts.
The arrest was made in connection with the lawsuit of the Tsargrad TV channel, which the company lost in the spring of 2021.
The IT company then blocked the Tsargrad YouTube resource.  The arbitration ruled that the firm would be charged 100,000 fines for each day until the amount is paid in full.  At the same time, the amount of payments should have been increased exponentially (twice weekly).

Mathematical calculations showed that in case of refusal to pay a fine for more than 7 months, its amount would reach 94 trillion rubles.  It is clear that even for the subsidiary of Google, which received an income of 134.3 billion in 2021, such an amount would be unbearable.  The company later managed to adjust the amount of the fine to 1 billion by filing an appeal.

The company's misadventures in Russia did not end there.  In 2021, for the first time since its existence (since 2005), the organization showed a net loss of 26.4 billion rubles.  At the end of 2021, another turnover fine of 5.2 billion rubles was imposed on the company at the suit of the Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications.
The Federal Bailiff Service began the enforcement process in May 2022, appointing 500 million rubles as an enforcement fee.
The company's management assured that the functioning of free Google services would continue.  Russians will be able to use YouTube, Gmail, Maps, the Android operating system, and receive information.
