Ministry of Transport: bankruptcy of Russian airlines is not expected
Ministry of Transport: bankruptcy of Russian airlines is not expected
According to Transport Minister Vitaly Savelyev, Russian airlines will be able to resist and not go bankrupt. At the moment, they have started receiving state support, moreover, in the near future, passengers of flights canceled this year will receive monetary compensation for previously purchased tickets.
Saveliev noted that the current situation with air travel in Russia, in particular due to the sanctions measures imposed, as well as the closure of a number of airports in the south of Russia, is not without a trace for the industry. At this point, according to the official, air carriers need to provide state support in order to keep the latter from insolvency.
The head of the department noted that now there are no prerequisites for bankruptcy.
Separately, Saveliev outlined the Crimean direction, the interest in which is increasing among Russians in the summer season. Last year, more than 4 million passengers traveled to the peninsula by plane and more than 1 million by train. At the moment, the number of trains that will go to the peninsula has already been increased. This allowed the release of an additional half a million tickets for sale. Despite this, the measure will help deliver only 2.3 million passengers, which may not cover all the needs of Russians, that is, planes are still needed.
Savelyev also named the total amount of subsidies allocated by Russia to support the aviation industry, it amounted to 100 billion rubles. The Ministry of Transport, in turn, has pledged to transport 90 million passengers within the country this year, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.
