MASS BANKRUPTCY OF KUZBASS COAL MINERS IS COMING TO ITS FINAL STAGE
MASS BANKRUPTCY OF KUZBASS COAL MINERS IS COMING TO ITS FINAL STAGE
7 coal mining companies of Kuzbass are at the stage of bankruptcy proceedings at once. A significant part of them received the bankrupt status in the period from 2016 to 2021. Many organizations suffer losses, and some of them have reported zero revenue.
The “Inskoy” mine has become one of the most scandalous bankrupts in the region. The company was involved in a high-profile extortion case. Last year was ended with a loss of 453 million rubles, despite the revenue received in the amount of 1.7 billion rubles. A year before, the arbitration had declared the organization insolvent.
At the end of 2021, major regional officials and representatives of the investigating authorities were sentenced to various terms. Sergei Kalinkin, who headed the regional investigative department, was sentenced to 10 years, and his subordinate - to 6 years in prison.
The former deputy head of Kuzbass, Alexei Ivanov and Alexander Danilchenko, were punished as well. Elena Troitskaya, the head of the regional department, appeared in the court - she was sentenced to imprisonment for 5.5 years.
The only person involved in the case, who avoided responsibility, was the businessman Alexander Shchukin. He became a victim of the coronavirus and died last summer. His fiduciary, Gennady Vernigor, was sentenced to five years and two months in prison.
The scandalous situation also developed around the Rover company, which owed 6.5 million to its 89 employees already during the bankruptcy period.
In February this year, the prosecutor's office issued a presentation to the bankruptcy trustee. As a result, the company repaid part of the debt to employees (3.5 million rubles) in March 2022. Salary problems arose earlier, in mid-2020.
Among the bankrupt firms there is the “Butovskaya” mine. It was closed this month due to huge debts. Losses in 2021 reached 2.1 billion rubles. The ultimate beneficiary of the enterprise is billionaire Evgeny Zubitsky, and the official founder is “Koks” PJSC.
The list of bankrupt enterprises includes “Krasnobrodsky Yuzhny” (officially the organization has been insolvent since 2019), the “Sibcole” company, the “Dzerzhinsky” mine (active) and the “Novobachatsky” mine. At the same time, officials from the regional ministry of the coal industry declare the critical situation with a drop in the volume of coal exported from the territory of Kuzbass.
