GARBAGE COLLECTION SERVICES ARE ON THE VERGE OF BANKRUPTCY

According to the Russian Ecological Operator, nine companies working with garbage collection in the regions may suspend their activities at once.

The situation began to heat up after the introduction of the self-isolation regime. On the one hand, garbage operators noted a decrease in payment for their work at tariffs both from individuals and legal entities. On the other hand, the tariffs themselves were reconsidered by the authorities in a number of regions and reduced to the level of 2019, which was against the garbage collection companies as well.

A real suspension of activities threatens the companies from the Chelyabinsk and Vologda regions, Dagestan, Chuvashia and Bashkiria.

However, the representatives of regional authorities assure that business will not come to a halt, bankruptcy or subsequent garbage collapse due to the intention to subsidize organizations from both federal and regional budgets.

According to the expert of the All-Russia People's Front, Alexander Kogan, in order to stabilize the situation, it is necessary to take both measures to update tariffs in different regions, and provide regional waste operators with access to personal data of payers for effective collection of debts.

The corresponding draft law on the possibility of garbage operators' access to the personal data of payers is currently awaiting approval by the Government of the Russian Federation.
