FEDERAL AGENCY ON PRESS AND MASS COMMUNICATIONS AND FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS AGENCY OF RUSSIA WERE ELIMINATED BY PUTIN'S DECREE

Federal Communications Agency and Federal Agency on Press and Mass Communications will cease to exist - President Vladimir Putin signed a corresponding decree. The document has already been posted on the Kremlin website.

Now the responsibilities of the liquidated departments will be transferred to the Ministry of Digital Affairs - the ministry will become the official successor. It is noted that the Ministry of Digital Science will also be responsible for legal obligations that arose during the work of Federal Communications Agency and Federal Agency on Press and Mass Communications.

Due to the transfer of new functions to the Ministry of Digital Science, the number of its employees will be increased.

Federal Communications Agency was engaged in the assignment of postal codes, numbering resources, as well as the restoration of the telecommunication network in case of emergency. Federal Agency on Press and Mass Communications carried out the distribution of state support to various media outlets, TV channels and publishing houses.

The head of Federal Communications Agency Mikhail Seslavinsky has already commented on the liquidation. He said that the department has fulfilled its mission and for all these years it has something to be proud of and something to remember. We should note that Seslavinsky has headed the organization since 2004 - at that time it was created by presidential decree.

We should recall that rumors about the impending liquidation of Agency on Press and Mass Communications and Federal Communications Agency appeared a few days ago. The head of the Duma committee on information policy, information technology and communications, Alexander Khinshtein, stated that the relevance of the departments was a big question.
