DISNEY CLOSING DOWN BLUE SKY STUDIOS
Twenty years after creation of the Ice Age movie, Blue Sky studio closes will be closed. The decision to terminate the operations of the company was made by its new owner, Disney.

According to Deadline media, the reason cited by one of the studio's representatives is "current economic realities." Probably he was referring to COVID-19, which hit the global film industry.

Blue Sky was previously owned by 20th Century Fox's animation division, but became part of Disney in 2019 when the company took over all of 20th Century Fox's film and TV show business. This included access to the X – Men franchise and Blue Sky Studios.

Disney will take over all of the Blue Sky's characters and intellectual property, including its most popular franchises, Ice Age and Rio.

The studio has also released many computer films, such as Robots and Ferdinand. Apparently, the last project of the studio was the Spies in Disguise movie, released in 2019.

Blue Sky is likely to be forever tied to the Ice Age franchise that made it a well –known animation studio. Ice Age (that has five parts) revenues brought the company $ 3.2 billion out of nearly $ 6 billion in global gross revenue. Unfortunately, for Disney, this fact was not enough to keep Blue Sky afloat. It is already known that work on the company's last project, Nimona, will be suspended.
