In India, a man died during banned cockfighting. The victim was a forty-five-year-old owner of rooster who suffered from his own domestic animal.
Before the fight, the animal began to break free and in the process of the fight accidentally injured the owner's groin with a knife attached to its paw.
The man was urgently taken to the hospital, but on the way he died from the injuries.
After that, the rooster was taken to the police station along with the murder weapon. Law enforcement officers deny the arrest of the animal. The police stressed out that the bird was taken away to ensure its safety and then was presented in court as a proof of death.
Law enforcement officers noted that they did not intend to present any charges to the bird, and the judge will subsequently determine the fate of the animal.
However, in this situation, it will not be possible to avoid the arrest.
The police intend to deal with the organizers and participants of the cockfighting and bring them to justice for manslaughter. Over a dozen people are already wanted.
Cockfighting has been banned in India for over half a century. Despite this, in rural areas, they continue to be carried out clandestinely.
