CHINA DECLARES COMPLETE ERADICATION OF EXTREME POVERTY
Chinese General Secretary Xi Jinping made a statement saying that China has overcome poverty. He noted that "the issue of poverty has been completely resolved."
Xi Jinping announced this at the national wrap-up conference on poverty alleviation. The General Secretary of the Central Committee added that it was possible to overcome poverty thanks to the joint efforts of the people of China and the work of the Communist Party.
According to Xi Jinping, 98.99% of the residents of small settlements were able to get out of the conditions of extreme poverty.
128 Chinese villages and 832 counties are no longer considered “poor”. Chinese authorities have spent $ 246 billion on these achievements since 2013.
Xi Jinping himself called this victory a historical miracle, recalling that China managed to overcome absolute poverty shortly before the anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party - it will turn 100 years old on July 23.
According to the authorities, since the beginning of the reform policy (70s of the 20th century), 770 million Chinese have been lifted out of poverty. The announcement that China will be able to completely eradicate poverty within 6 years was made in 2015.
