THE MINISTRY OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS IS AGAINST THE INTRODUCTION OF A SEPARATE PUNISHMENT FOR INFORMATION BUSINESSMEN
According to Andrei Ismakaev, adviser to the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the organization of combating the illegal use of information and communication technologies (ICT), it is premature to talk about establishing liability in the Criminal Code for information businessmen providing information and consulting services of questionable quality. The deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education, Jan Lantarov, proposed to introduce such a separate punishment for information gypsies during a meeting of the working group on improving legislation in the blogosphere, held in the State Duma on March 21.

The deputy proposed to establish such a punishment for information businessmen who cause significant damage to consumers by providing low-quality information and consulting services. It was proposed to punish such damage by analogy with Part 1 of Article 171 of the Criminal Code (illegal entrepreneurship) with a fine of up to 300 thousand rubles.

Criminal cases have already been initiated against information businessmen in Russia. So, in November 2023, criminal cases were initiated against the "famous blogger and business coach" Ayaz Shabutdinov and his accomplices under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud on a particularly large scale). Shabutdinov is a co–owner of the company "Like Center", which offers business courses for those who want to earn more. More than 50 people have already been recognized as victims in criminal cases.
