MEGAFON BECAME A PERSON OF INTEREST IN THE CASE DUE TO THE INCREASE IN PRICES FOR TARIFFS
The Federal Antimonopoly Service initiated a case against the mobile operator Megafon. The reason for the decision was the increase in prices for services from the company.

The average increase in the cost of tariffs in 2023 was 10.24%. At the same time, about 8.2 million subscribers faced such a measure, Vedomosti writes with reference to the press service of the Federal Antimonopoly Service.

The company made the decision to increase prices due to the increased amount of costs. However, representatives of the Federal Antimonopoly Service noted that the company's profit, on the contrary, increased, and expenses decreased.

"In this regard, the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia has concluded that PJSC Megafon has no grounds for raising tariffs. The actions of the company may lead to infringement of the interests of consumers," the department noted.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service has decided to initiate a case on the fact of establishing or maintaining a monopolistically high or monopolistically low price of goods. If Megafon's guilt is confirmed, the company will have to pay a fine of 1 million rubles.

The press service of the operator stressed that no notification of the case has been received at the moment.

At the same time, in December 2022, the Federal Antimonopoly Service called the increase in the cost of tariffs at Tele2 and Beeline legitimate. Then the price increase was associated with an increase in network costs.
