2 million bottles of Perrier mineral water destroyed in France by Nestle Waters. The thing is that the mineral well from which the water is extracted turned out to be infected with bacteria of fecal origin.

It was decided to destroy the Perrier batch as a precautionary measure. This is reported by the newspaper Le Monde with reference to the company's statement. Contamination of water with bacteria of intestinal and Pseudomonas aeruginosa was found in the city of Vergese. Has the city administration put forward Nestle the requirement for the immediate cessation of operation of an infected well.

According to the company itself, the water contamination occurred due to heavy rains during Hurricane Monica in March.

Notably, in February, the European consumer protection Association Foodwatch sued the company over the banned water purification methods of Perrier and Vittel at French enterprises.

Nestle in factories in France, a method was used to purify contaminated water using ultraviolet light and carbon filters. This is considered sufficient for the purification of tap water, but in the European Union such methods are not used for the production of bottled mineral water.
