THE FOUNDER OF WIKIMART WAS ATTRACTED TO A SUBSIDY FOR 5.65 BILLION
The Moscow Arbitration Court (Arbitration Court of the City of Moscow) recovered 5,654,588,672.15 rubles from Maxim Faldin, co-founder and ex-head of the Wikimart trading platform. The ruling was made by Judge Eleonora Mironenko on April 15, 2024 in the framework of the bankruptcy case of the Wikimart company (No. A40-241590/2016) in the order of subsidiary liability. The judicial act has not yet entered into force and can still be appealed within 10 days from the moment of its manufacture in full.

In 2016, Faldin announced the closure of the Wikimart project. By mid-2019, the organization was placed under surveillance, and in the spring of 2020 it was declared insolvent.

In August 2023, Rusbankrot reported that the court had found grounds to involve the businessman in subsidizing the debts of the bankrupt company. Together with him, it was originally planned to impose a penalty on the ex-head of the company, Andrei Klenin. The final calculation of the amount was suspended until the settlement with creditors was completed.

The verdict was subsequently reviewed on Klenin's appeal. The bankruptcy trustee failed to prove to the court (9th Arbitration Court of Appeal) the connection between the growth of the company's debts to creditors and the failure of the head to file a bankruptcy claim. As a result, the subsidy was imposed exclusively on Faldin.

The bankruptcy process against Faldin was launched back in the middle of 29019 at the request of Ilya Ananyin (case no. A40-157830/2019). In October 2019, the court declared Wikimart's beneficiary insolvent.

On April 20, 2022, the Moscow arbitration court issued a ruling, completing the procedure for the sale of its assets. Faldin was relieved of the need to fulfill the demands of creditors, including those who were not declared during the bankruptcy.
